Ryan Simpson - Theatre Director 

​Ryan Simpson is starting his 4th year teaching, as he previously spent 3 years in Klein ISD before moving to Pearland. Ryan has a BFA in Theatre Education from the University of Houston. During his time at UH he helped with College Recruitment, Administrated an After-School Program, and taught workshops at Thespian Festival and TxETA. Ryan has also worked as a teaching artist with the Alley Theatre’s Playmaker’s camp, and with TUTS and the Tommy Tune Awards as a school ambassador. Ryan’s foremost goal for this upcoming school year is to equip his students with the tools needed to excel onstage. He is looking forward to seeing his students succeed, and laying the foundation for PHS to be a force within the Educational theatre realm. In his free time he enjoys spending time with his cat, friends, and family to unwind.

Technical Director - David Wood-Smith

David Wood-Smith is very excited to start his second (and a half) year of teaching, and his first full year at Pearland High School! Recently, he was the Technical Director at Glenda Dawson High School and has a BFA in Theatre Technology concentrating in Scenic Design and Stage Management at Baylor University. He has a passion for teaching theatre and helping to guide the next generation to discover their love and passion for the arts. Most recently, David has worked as a carpenter for Houston Shakespeare Festival’s 2024 season, the set designer for Twelfth Night at University of Houston, and served as the Long-Term Substitute for Pearland High School Technical Theatre classes in 2024. He is most looking forward to teaching students all about Technical Theatre in the classroom and building the extra-curricular technical theatre program by guiding students towards a collaborative environment to create some fantastic shows for Pearland Theatre’s 2024-2025 school year.
